At 11.43 WIB, Wednesday afternoon there was an earthquake in Central Maluku with a magnitude of 6.1. The location of the earthquake was 3.39 latitude and 129.56 east longitude or about 67 kilometers southeast of Central Maluku. The earthquake with a depth of 10 kilometers occurred below sea level.
Based on BMKG information, this earthquake has no potential for a tsunami. However, the BMKG still urges residents to stay alert for aftershocks that may occur.
The day before, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5 also occurred in Bengkulu, Tuesday (15/6) night. The 5.2 magnitude earthquake occurred at 21.16 WIB. The coordinates of the eaarthquake took place at 4.33 South Latitude, 102.37 East Longitude or 36 kilometers southwest of Seluma, Bengkulu. The earthquake also does not have the potential for a tsunami.
