PT. Asuransi MAIPARK Indonesia was established on 23rd December
2003 . It commenced business operations with effect from 1st January 2004.
PT. Asuransi MAIPARK – or MAIPARK for short – is a joint
undertaking of the Indonesian General Insurance Industry, endorsed by decree No. 63 of the Directorate of Insurance, Republic of Indonesia.
All insurance and reinsurance companies licensed to operate in the Republic
of Indonesia are shareholders of the company. MAIPARK was established
as a Special Risk Reinsurance Company with the objective to become the
National Reinsurer for catastrophic risks.
At present MAIPARK focuses on earthquake reinsurance only. Its immediate
priorities are:
build a strong domestic reinsurance capacity for the local insurance
industry for earthquake insurance
promote discipline and proper handling of earthquake reinsurance
in Indonesia
set a benchmark for earthquake insurance pricing in Indonesia
collate statistics and data bases to arrive at an appropriate national
earthquake tariff with technically justified premium rates
