EARTHQUAKE INDEX INSURANCE (EQII)

Financial institutions can buy this product, one of its purpose is to protect their liquidity during the earthquake.

What is the Benefit of EQII for Financial Institutions?

EQII will provide benefits in cash as compensation for the non-performing loan (NPL) after a large earthquake magnitude and intensity (MMI) is in a range that is insured.

Velocity claim payment becomes crucial to back up the liquidity of financial institutions immediately after the earthquake occurred. This is caused by funding needs of the society, and stop or decrease the performance of the loan repayment also occur immediately after the earthquake.

What is the Object of Insurance of EQII?

The Object of Insurance that insurable by EQII is a portfolio of loans granted to customers of financial institutions.

What is Parametric Triggers in EQII?

Parametric Triggers are the smallest limit from the earthquake magnitude and the earthquake intensity theoretically, that is used in determining payment of claims published by calculation institution. The moment magnitude (Mw) is the magnitude that measures seismic moment that shows how much energy that released to produce earthquakes based on extensive fracturing, slip length and nature of the rigidity (stiffness) of rock. The intensity of earthquakes is the theoretical value of shaking were felt in a certain point on the earth which is calculated using a certain attenuation function performed by the calculation institution.
