Friday afternoon, January 14, 2022, at 16.00 WIB, an Earthquake of magnitude 6.7 occurred in Labuhan, Pandegelang, Banten. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 km. The epicenter of the earthquake was 52 kilometers southwest of Sumur, Banten.
This earthquake was so strong that it was felt in Greater Jakarta, Tasikmalaya, to Cimanggis. As a result, many buildings swayed and people scattered outside. Although large, the BMKG stated that this earthquake did not have the potential for a tsunami.
Until now there have been no reports of casualties from the Banten earthquake, however, thousands of houses were damaged and cracked due to the shaking of the earthquake.
